I am a highly technical specialist with over 20 year’s information technology experience down to component level. From the age of 9 my primary school, Buildwas got a BBC Micro. I started to hear of the birth of the computer age. At this time 1979,MSDOS was just being created and the whole area interested me greatly. My father nurtured this interest, getting a home PC during my secondary school years. There wasn’t a great deal of software available then so my sister and I spend many hours typing in code and writing game software from books/magazines. My interest continued and I went onto College at Telford College of Arts and Technology and achieved a BTEC Diploma in Information Technology. I used this qualification to further my studies and qualify for a BTEC Higher National Certificate in Electronic Engineering. After successfully completing this course I took a job as a photocopier and facsimile technician. Then these devices became network aware with the introduction of interface cards. With my information technology experience I was ideal for setting these devices up and integrating them into various networks (Wintel, Netware and Apple) utilising various protocols (TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, NETBOIS and Apple Talk). I then trained on some MCP perquisites achieving various City and Guilds Qualifications. I then wished to use my knowledge of information technology moving into the IT industry full time. I gained an MCP qualification to backup my knowledge and from May 2001 - July 2007 I joined a major government project supporting users throughout the UK, installing and configuring desktops, laptops and servers using different versions of Microsoft OS, incorporating ITIL, UPM and ISO Quality system methodologies. From July 2007 onwards I have started my own business as an IT Contractor. |
